- Abbreviate directional parts of the address unless the direction is the name of a street or city (i.e. North (N), South (S), East (E), West (W),
Northeast (NE), Northwest (NW), Southeast (SE) and Southwest (SW). Do NOT spell out a numeric value (i.e. Fourth Street should be entered 4th St).
- Apartment numbers should be put at the end of the address line. The # sign should not be used if the correct designation such as Apt or Ste is known.
If a # sign is used there should be a space between the # sign and the secondary number (i.e. 425 Flower Blvd # 72).
- Post Office addresses should be entered as PO Box (i.e. PO Box 150).
- Rural Route addresses should be entered without the words Rural, Number, No, or the # sign (i.e. RR 2 Box 150).
- Highway Contract Route 68 Box 23A should be abbreviated to HC 68 Box 23A. Star Route, which usually refers to highway contract, should be changed to HC.
- According to USPS standards, city names should be spelled out in their entirety (i.e. Ft Worth should be Fort Worth).
- Address Standardization for County, State, and Local Highway: In general, the full word needs to be spelled out: County Highway (such as County Highway 150), County Road (such as County Road 150),
